Fundraising
Fundraising has become essential to the success of the Cavalier Band. Conroe ISD covers only the basic band costs such as the directors’ salaries, uniforms for marching and some larger instruments. Most other costs fall to the parents. These include the color guard directors’ salaries, the marching show and music, clinicians and techs, extra equipment, some transportation costs and all the extras that make an exceptional band program.
This is what your Fair Share fee goes toward making possible!
To make this as financially painless as possible, each year we try to find fundraising activities that can help families to raise credit toward their Fair Share. This year we have quite a few proven winners and a new opportunity that we are very excited about.
One of our easiest and most profitable fundraisers is the Kroger Card. Margaret Martin is our chairperson and she will be available at band events to provide you with Kroger Cards.
THE KROGER CARD FUNDRAISER PROGRAM
- Each card costs $1.00 (the amount preloaded onto the card) and can be paid for with cash or check through the College Park Cavalier (CPC) Band Booster Club. Only $1.00 is on the card initially. Before purchasing groceries, have your card “recharged” at the checkout for up to $100 by check or over $100 by credit or debit cards. You can “recharge” at the
- NOTE: The card must be “recharged” in a separate transaction before the cashier rings up the groceries. Also, it takes about 10 minutes for the “recharging” to be recognized throughout the store unless you go through the same register.
- For each $100 recharge, the student you designate receives $5.00 credit. You receive the full $100 in groceries or medicine at the pharmacy or gas at the pump!
- When the card is low or depleted, recharge and continue using it. The balance on the card is listed on your receipt with each transaction.

Concessions at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
Working at the Pavilion is an excellent option to earn fair share credit. Aramark, the company that runs the concessions at the Pavilion, allows non-profit organizations such as ours to man a booth in return for a percentage of the sales. The season runs from March through November with plenty of opportunities for many members. Lesa McDonald is our concessions chairman and can provide you with all the details for getting on the volunteer list for this opportunity. The only requirements are TABC certification and a willingness to listen to some good music while you earn Fair Share credit. Lesa's e-mail address is lmcdonald@twcpband.com .
