Charlotte N. Royall

 

Charlotte Royall is the Director of Bands at The Woodlands College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas. She previously taught for 4 years as Head Director at Knox JH in The Woodlands and 20 years in Spring, Texas, 14 years as Director of Bands at Bammel MS.  She  attended high school in the Houston area and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.  While there, she studied conducting with Mr. Eddie Green, former director of the Wind Ensemble.

Mrs. Royall’s Junior High performing groups earned many UIL Sweepstakes and Outstanding in Class festival awards.  In 1990, the Bammel MS Symphonic Band was named the Texas Music Educators Association Class CC State Honor Band and performed at the State convention in 1991.  In 1996, the band was selected Class CCC 1st runner-up in the State Honor Band competition and in 1998 was chosen 2nd runner-up. The College Park HS Band has consistently earned Superior ratings at UIL Marching and Concert and Sightreading and won Best in Class Awards at marching and concert festivals.

Mrs. Royall serves as a clinician and adjudicator in the southern United States area. She has presented clinics for the TMEA and TBA conventions and co-conducted the Spring ISD JH Honor Band for the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.  Mrs. Royall served a seven year term on the executive board for the Texas Bandmasters Association. She also served as president of TBA in 1999, the first female to do so.  Mrs. Royall is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and Phi Beta Mu, an honorary band director’s fraternity.  In 1999, she received the University of Houston, Moore’s School of Music, Distinguished Alumni Award.
