Fair Share Fundraising

Fundraising has become essential to the success of the Cavalier Band.   Conroe ISD covers only the basic band costs such as the directors’ salaries, uniforms for marching and some larger instruments.  Most other costs fall to the parents.  These include the color guard directors’ salaries, the marching show and music, clinicians and techs, extra equipment, some transportation costs and all the extras that make an exceptional band program.

This is what your Fair Share fee goes toward making possible!

To make this as financially painless as possible, each year we try to find fundraising activities that can help families to raise credit toward their Fair Share.  This year we have quite a few proven winners and a new opportunity that we are very excited about.

One of our easiest and most profitable fundraisers is the Kroger Card.  Kathy Reedy is our chairperson and she will be available at band events to provide you with Kroger Cards.

Pizza Cards

The CPC Band Boosters purchase Pizza Cards from local pizza places. (Dominos and Nick-and-Willys in the past) for resale by the parents as a fundraiser that is applied to the student’s fair share account.  These cards entitle the bearer to specific discounts at the participating restaurants. The cards sell for $10.00 and $9.00 goes to the student’s Fair Share account!  So, in addition to selling these cards to neighbors and co-workers, they make great gifts for teachers, babysitters and bosses!  Parents are allowed to check out up to 5 cards at a time for consignment sales and then turn in the money or any unsold cards. Contact Bill Lambert if you want cards at 281-362-4630 or at wlamber@entergy.com .

Concessions at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

As we enter our third year as Band Boosters, we are delighted to announce that we now have this excellent opportunity to add to our fundraising options.  Aramark, the company that runs the concessions at the Pavilion, allows non-profit organizations such as ours to man a booth in return for a percentage of the sales.   The season runs from March through November with plenty of opportunities for many members.  Gayle Russell is our concessions chairman and can provide you with all the details for getting on the volunteer list for this opportunity.  The only requirements are TABC certification and a willingness to listen to some good music while you earn Fair Share credit.  Gayle’s e-mail address is jgruss01@swbell.net .  Drop her an e-mail and she will give you the information for certification.

Music and Arts Fundraising

Music and Arts has allowed us the opportunity to serve the band community by helping other schools to get their instruments rented, etc, while making money towards our student's fair share. Training is required to help work these registration shifts that are held either in the store, or at different schools. Each shift is rewarded with funds towards your fair share total! For more info, contact Teresa Baldwin at tbaldwin@twcpband.com.

Other

We must mention that UIL regulations prevent the students from participating in these types of fundraising activities.  Our students will have their own fundraisers throughout the year.

We will be adding more opportunities to carry us through marching season and into concert season and a possible Spring Trip!!!  More information on that later!

Be sure to attend the Band Booster meetings and read the newsletters to find out about these opportunities.

Please do not forget to join our Yahoo Group for the timeliest updates on all band events and news!!!  E-mail Jose Conde at jconde@twcpband.com if you are not already a member.  He will issue you a special invitation and help you with the process.
